Opening end of April — get your waiver done now and walk straight in
Before you arrive
Walk-ins welcome
No booking needed. Just show up. We run welcome sessions every 30mins to get you up-to-speed and climbing safely.
Transparent pricing
Everything is listed on our website — day passes, gear hire, memberships. No surprises when you walk in.
All levels, all ages
Beginners are why we're here. The team will get you on the wall and make sure you actually enjoy it — not just survive it.
Complete your waiver first
Save time on arrival. Complete it online → before you visit — it only takes a minute.
Step by step
Arrival
Our cafe is the first thing you'll see. Sit down, get comfortable and watch the climbing to get a feel for it, but don't be nervous, we were all first-timers once. No rush, ask one of our friendly team members when you're ready to have a go.
Check-in
We'll get the waiver sorted and have a quick chat about what you're hoping to get out of your visit. Takes just a few minutes. Not climbing? No problem — grab a seat at The Pocket. Under-18s need their waiver completed by a parent or guardian, which you can do online beforehand.
Gear
Hire shoes and a harness if you need them. Everything else we'll walk you through. No need to buy anything you don't already have.
On the wall
You won't be pointed at a wall and left to figure it out. We'll give you something to work toward and someone to help you get there. Bouldering is great for solo visits; rope climbing runs in groups of up to six.
After your climb
The cafe is where most visits end up. Debrief, decompress, grab something to eat or a drink from our licensed bar.
The Beta Quiz
Everyone climbs for a different reason. The challenge, the community, the fitness, the headspace, the adventure. My Beta is our way of figuring out which one drives you.
Nine quick questions — your result gets saved to your Rocky Climb profile so we can make your experience here feel like it was made for you.

What to bring
Comfortable clothes
Anything you can move in — activewear or shorts and a tee is fine. Nothing too baggy though. All jewellery needs to be removed before you climb.
Climbing shoes
Available to hire at the desk. No need to buy your own before your first visit.
Water bottle
We have a bubbler on site. The Pocket Cafe also has lots of other drinks including fresh juices and a selection of soft drinks covered too.
Nothing else
Chalk, harnesses, gear — we have everything to hire or buy. Show up as you are.
The Pocket Cafe
The Pocket Cafe Bar sits right at the entrance and it's genuinely the heart of Rocky Climb. Come in before you climb, stay afterward, or just check the place out. Good coffee, all day food, zero pressure.
100 Bolsover Street, Rockhampton.
Questions
Not at all. A big chunk of our visitors are complete beginners. We'll show you how to read a route, how to move on the wall, and how to fall safely. You'll be climbing within your first session, whatever your starting point.
Bouldering is on shorter walls (under about 4 metres) without a rope — thick mats below, no harness, work at your own pace. Rope climbing goes higher and requires a harness and a partner to belay you. Bouldering tends to be the easier entry point for first-timers; rope climbing is great for groups.
Yes — kids love it and the experience is designed to be genuinely family-friendly. Under-18s need their waiver completed by a parent or guardian, which you can do online before you arrive. And you don't have to climb yourself — but you will need to actively supervise children under 16. We also run kids parties if you're looking for something a bit more special.
Possibly — especially in your forearms. Climbing works muscles you've probably never used quite this way. It's a good kind of sore, and it gets noticeably better after a few sessions as your body adapts.
Absolutely. Bouldering is especially solo-friendly — just work problems at your own pace. We also have Auto Belays on the rope wall that let you climb without a belay partner. Rocky Climb is also the kind of place where you tend to leave knowing a few more people than when you walked in.
